Beschorneria yuccoides

Beschorneria yuccoides is a striking, evergreen succulent perennial prized for its dramatic, arching rosettes of soft, gray-green, yucca-like foliage and spectacular, tall flower spikes. Native to Mexico, this clump-forming plant features long, sword-shaped, fleshy leaves that form a bold, architectural mound. In late spring through summer, mature plants send up tall, arching, coral-pink to reddish-pink stems rising 3-5 feet above the foliage, bearing pendulous clusters of tubular, greenish-yellow to red flowers that are highly attractive to hummingbirds. The flower bracts open sequentially over several weeks, extending the colorful display. Exceptionally drought-tolerant, heat-tolerant, and deer-resistant, it is an outstanding choice for xeriscape gardens, succulent gardens, Mediterranean landscapes, coastal gardens, and as a dramatic specimen in containers.
