Mountain Moon Evergreen Dogwood
Cornus capitata ‘Mountain Moon’
Mountain Moon Evergreen Dogwood is a unique and valuable broadleaf evergreen in the dogwood family. Instead of a dramatic floral bract display, it offers year-round interest with glossy, leathery leaves and subtle, greenish-white flowers. Its greatest asset is its evergreen nature and excellent tolerance for the Bay Area's heat and dry conditions compared to many deciduous dogwoods.
-
An evergreen to semi-evergreen dogwood, providing consistent foliage and structure throughout the year, unlike deciduous types.
-
Features subtle but attractive clusters of small greenish-white flowers in spring, followed by ornamental red berries.
-
Exhibits superior heat and drought tolerance and is highly resistant to the dogwood anthracnose that plagues native flowering dogwoods, making it a robust, low-maintenance choice.
-
Perfect as an evergreen screen, large shrub, or small understory tree in shaded to partially shaded gardens, especially useful for creating a woodland feel.
