Mt. Tamboritha Woolly Grevillea

Grevillea lanigera ‘Mt. Tamboritha’

Mt. Tamboritha Woolly Grevillea is a charming and resilient prostrate shrub that forms a dense, weed-smothering mat of attractive foliage. Its small, oval leaves are a deep, glossy green with a silvery reverse, densely clothing the spreading stems. In late winter to spring, it produces clusters of curious, two-toned pink and cream flowers that add whimsical interest. Incredibly tough, cold-hardy, and drought-tolerant, it is a top-performing groundcover for slopes, rockeries, and spilling over walls, where it requires virtually no care.

  • Excellent Prostrate Groundcover: Forms a very dense, low, spreading mat (under 2 ft tall, 3-4 ft wide), perfect for suppressing weeds and covering difficult banks.

  • Attractive Bicolored Foliage: Features small, oval, glossy green leaves with contrasting silvery-white undersides, providing year-round visual appeal.

  • Cold Hardy & Drought Tolerant: Notable for its excellent frost tolerance (down to 15°F or -9°C) and ability to thrive with very little water once established.

  • Low-Maintenance & Adaptable: Requires no pruning, fertilizing, or special care. It thrives in full sun to part shade in well-drained soil.

  • Ideal for Erosion Control: Its mat-forming roots make it one of the best plants for stabilizing sunny slopes and preventing soil erosion.
