Midnight Magic Blue Curls
Trichostema ‘Midnight Magic’
Trichostema 'Midnight Magic' is a captivating, evergreen shrub prized for its deep violet-blue flowers with long, curling stamens, its sweetly aromatic foliage, and its compact, rounded form. This drought-tolerant native hybrid forms a tidy, mounding shrub of narrow, dark green leaves with white-felted undersides that release a pleasant fragrance when brushed. From spring through fall, it produces an abundance of upright, branching spikes bearing velvety, midnight-purple to violet-blue, two-lipped flowers, each with distinctive, elegantly curling stamens that extend far beyond the petals. A magnet for hummingbirds, bees, and other pollinators, it is low-maintenance, heat-tolerant, and an outstanding choice for sunny borders, rock gardens, containers, and wildlife-friendly, water-wise landscapes.
