Pillar Rose of Sharon
Hibiscus syriacus Pillar
Hibiscus syriacus 'Purple Pillar'® (PP25,568) is a revolutionary, award-winning Rose of Sharon prized for its exceptionally narrow, upright, columnar form and its profusion of large, tropical-looking purple blooms. This deciduous shrub is unique among Rose of Sharon for its tight, vertical habit—growing 10-16 feet tall but only 2-3 feet wide—making it a perfect choice for narrow spaces, privacy screens, and container growing. From mid-summer through early autumn, it produces an abundance of showy, funnel-shaped single flowers with prominent stamens that attract hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. Exceptionally hardy, heat-tolerant, and low-maintenance, it is an outstanding choice for borders, hedges, and as a dramatic vertical accent.
