Silver Dragon Creeping Lily Turf
Liriope spicata ‘Silver Dragon’
Liriope spicata 'Silver Dragon' is a striking, fast-spreading evergreen ground cover prized for its dramatic, variegated foliage and adaptability to shade. This vigorous perennial forms arching, grass-like clumps of narrow, dark green leaves boldly striped with bright, silvery-white to creamy-white bands, creating a luminous, eye-catching effect in the landscape. In late summer to early autumn, it produces short spikes of small, lavender-white, bell-shaped flowers that rise just above the foliage, followed by small, ornamental, blackish-purple berries. Note: Unlike clump-forming Liriope muscari, this species spreads aggressively by underground rhizomes and can be invasive in ideal conditions. It is an outstanding choice for erosion control on slopes and for filling large, difficult shaded areas where its spread can be managed.
