Bright 'N Tight Carolina Cherry Laurel
Prunus carolinianaBright ‘N Tight’
Prunus caroliniana 'Monus' (Bright 'N Tight™) is a superior, compact evergreen shrub prized for its naturally dense, upright form and glossy, dark green foliage. This selection of the native Carolina Cherry Laurel is specifically bred for its tight, columnar to pyramidal habit, reaching a manageable size that requires little to no pruning to maintain its shape. In early spring, it produces small, fragrant, creamy-white flowers in slender racemes that attract bees and other pollinators. The flowers are followed by small, black, cherry-like drupes in summer that are attractive to birds. With its lustrous, leathery leaves, excellent tolerance for heat, drought, and pruning, and its ability to thrive in a range of conditions, it is an outstanding choice for privacy screens, hedges, foundation plantings, and as a specimen in small gardens and narrow spaces.
