Gallon refers to the size of the nursery container the plant is currently growing in (e.g. 1 Gallon, 5 Gallon, 15 Gallon).

A larger gallon size generally means:

Q: How much sun does it need to turn red?
A: For the best color (red edges/pink blush), provide at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight daily. Morning sun with afternoon shade is perfect in hotter inland parts of the Bay Area to prevent scorch.

Q: Is it cold hardy for our area?
A: Yes. Flapjacks are generally hardy to around 25-30°F (-4 to -1°C), making them perfectly suited for the mild frosts possible in Zone 9a. Provide slight frost protection if temperatures dip lower.

Q: How often should I water it?
A: Water deeply only when the soil is completely dry (the "soak and dry" method). This may be every 2-3 weeks in summer and even less in winter. Overwatering is the primary cause of failure.
