Description

Barbara Karst Bougainvillea (Bougainvillea 'Barbara Karst') is a vigorous, heat-loving woody vine celebrated for its spectacular displays of vivid magenta-red bracts. These brilliantly colored bracts surround tiny white flowers, creating an almost continuous burst of color through the warmer months. Glossy green foliage and sprawling, thorny stems make this fast-growing plant especially effective for covering sunny fences, walls, arbors, and large trellises. It can also be trained as an espalier or maintained as a colorful shrub with regular pruning. Once established, Barbara Karst thrives with relatively little water and excellent drainage, bringing dramatic Mediterranean-style color to warm California gardens.
