Description

Setsugekka Camellia is a classic and exceptionally popular Sasanqua camellia, renowned for its elegant, large, semi-double white flowers. The blooms are pristine white with a hint of pink on the ruffled petal edges and a central cluster of golden stamens. It often has a light, sweet fragrance. Blooming from mid-fall into early winter, it is one of the earliest and most reliable camellias to flower, brightening the garden as other plants fade. Its vigorous, upright but spreading habit makes it excellent for hedges, screens, or as a specimen.

  • Large, Elegant White Fall Blooms: Produces an abundance of large, semi-double white flowers with ruffled edges from October to December.

  • Early & Prolific Bloomer: A cornerstone of the fall garden, providing color when few other shrubs are in flower.

  • Vigorous, Upright-Spreading Habit: Grows quickly into a dense, full shrub, perfect for creating privacy screens or informal hedges.

  • Light Fragrance: Many find the flowers to have a delicate, pleasant scent.

  • Sun Tolerant: As a Sasanqua, it tolerates more sun than Japonica camellias, though afternoon shade is still beneficial.
