Description

The Cat Palm, also called the Cascade or Cataract Palm, is a lush, clumping palm prized for its full, waterfall-like appearance. It lacks a central trunk, instead forming dense clusters of slender, green stems from which long, arching, feathery (pinnate) fronds emerge. The fronds are a brighter, lighter green than the Parlor Palm and have a more relaxed, drooping habit. It loves humidity and consistent moisture, making it an excellent choice for bright bathrooms or grouped with other plants to create a mini-jungle effect.

Q: Is it the same as a Parlor Palm?A: No, they are different species. The Cat Palm (C. cataractarum) is a clumper with softer, lighter green, more arching fronds and loves more humidity and water. The Parlor Palm (C. elegans) has darker, more upright fronds on cane-like stems and is more tolerant of dry air and low light.
