Description

Dianella revoluta 'Allyn-Citation' (Coolvista®) is a compact, evergreen perennial prized for its striking, upright, blue-green, grass-like foliage and delicate, star-shaped blue flowers followed by glossy, ornamental blue berries. This Australian native forms a dense, clumping fountain of stiff, strappy, variegated leaves (green with white margins and a blue-green center) that provide year-round architectural interest and textural contrast. In late spring through summer, it produces loose clusters of small, star-shaped, pale blue to lavender flowers on slender, branched stems above the foliage, followed by showy, deep glossy blue berries that attract birds. Exceptionally drought-tolerant once established, heat tolerant, and adaptable to a range of well-drained soils (including coastal conditions), it is an outstanding choice for borders, mass plantings, containers, rock gardens, and as a colorful, low-maintenance ground cover.
