Description

Canyon Snow Pacific Coast Iris is a charming and adaptable West Coast native hybrid that brings a touch of woodland elegance to shady gardens. It forms a low, evergreen clump of slender, arching, bright green leaves. In mid to late spring, it produces an abundance of clean, pure white flowers with just a hint of yellow veining at the throat. More tolerant of summer drought and a wider range of soils than many irises, it is a perfect, low-care choice for illuminating dry shade under oaks or in rustic woodland settings.

  • Pure White Spring Flowers: Blooms profusely with graceful, pristine white flowers that brighten up shady areas in spring.

  • Adaptable Dry Shade Performer: A selected hybrid that thrives in partial to full shade and is notably more tolerant of dry summer conditions than many woodland plants.

  • Low, Evergreen Clumping Habit: Forms a neat, ground-hugging mound of foliage that remains attractive year-round.

  • Native Hybrid & Low-Maintenance: Once established, it requires very little care, no summer water in many areas, and is deer resistant.

  • Ideal for Naturalistic Gardens: Perfect for planting under native oaks, in dry woodland gardens, rockeries, or shaded slopes.

Faqs

Q: What soil does it need?
A: It prefers well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil. Good drainage is key, especially in winter. It is more adaptable to clay soil than some other Pacific Coast Irises if drainage is adequate.

Q: When should it be divided?
A: Divide clumps in late summer or early fall, after the hot weather has passed but well before the winter rains, to allow for re-establishment.
