 Living Plants

Size, shape and branching naturally vary

Description

The Spartan Juniper is the perfect, fast-growing plant for creating a dense, dark green, columnar screen or hedge without constant pruning. It naturally forms a tight, pyramidal to columnar shape with rich green, feathery foliage. More robust and faster-growing than the ultra-narrow 'Skyrocket', it quickly fills in to provide excellent privacy, wind protection, or a formal vertical accent, all with minimal maintenance.

  • A fast-growing, dense, columnar to narrow pyramidal evergreen.

  • Foliage is lush, feathery, and deep green year-round.

  • Naturally maintains a neat, formal shape with little to no pruning.

  • Excellent for creating a quick, tall privacy screen, windbreak, or hedge.

  • Drought tolerant and adaptable to various soils once established.

  • A superior alternative to Italian Cypress in many climates, being hardier and less prone to pests.

Faqs

Q: How far apart should I plant them for a screen?
A: For a solid, continuous screen, plant them 4-5 feet apart, center to center. Their mature width is about 4-5 feet, so this spacing allows them to touch and interlock.

Q: Can I keep it narrower than its natural width?
A: While it has a good natural form, you can lightly shear the sides in early summer to keep it slightly more narrow if needed. Avoid cutting into old wood where there is no green foliage.
