Description

Nepeta 'Blue Wonder' is a compact, drought-tolerant perennial prized for its exceptionally long-blooming spikes of vivid periwinkle-blue flowers and aromatic, textured foliage. This cultivar forms a neat, low, mounding clump (humbuckel) of soft green, ovate, scalloped, fuzzy leaves that are larger than many other catmints and release a pleasant, minty fragrance when brushed. From late spring through summer and often into early fall, it produces an abundance of tall, airy, branched spikes covered in small, two-lipped, tubular, deep periwinkle-blue flowers, creating a soft, billowing effect over a long period. The flowers are highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. With its excellent drought and heat tolerance, deer and rabbit resistance, and neat, compact habit, it is an outstanding choice for sunny borders, rock gardens, cottage gardens, mass plantings, edging, and containers.
