Description
The Sago Palm is a living fossil, a rugged and sculptural plant with a striking, prehistoric appearance. It develops a slow-growing, shaggy trunk topped with a symmetrical crown of stiff, dark green, feather-like leaves that have a highly polished look. New leaves emerge in a single, dramatic flush as a soft, bronze "break." Extremely drought-tolerant and slow-growing, it is a superb, low-maintenance choice for adding architectural interest to xeriscapes, rock gardens, or as a potted specimen.
-
Ancient, Sculptural Form: A cycad with a stout trunk and a rigid, symmetrical rosette of glossy, pinnate leaves.
-
Extremely Drought Tolerant & Slow-Growing: Requires very little water once established and grows only a few inches per year.
-
Toxic Warning: All parts of the plant are highly toxic to humans and pets if ingested, causing severe liver damage.
-
Prefers Well-Drained Soil & Sun: Thrives in full sun to partial shade and must have excellent drainage to prevent root rot.
-
Excellent for Containers & Landscaping: Its controlled growth and dramatic form make it perfect for pots, entryways, or desert-themed gardens.
