Description

Lippia (Phyla nodiflora), often called frogfruit or common lippia, is a tough, mat-forming groundcover used as a lawn-look alternative in warm, sunny landscapes. Faqs

Is lippia a real grass?
No. Lippia is a broadleaf groundcover used for a lawn-like look.

Can I walk on it?
It handles light foot traffic, but it’s not meant for heavy daily use.

Does it need mowing?
Mowing is optional. Trim or mow if you prefer a shorter, more turf-like finish.

Will it spread?
Yes. It spreads by creeping stems. Use edging or borders if you want to keep it contained.

What happens in winter?
In cooler conditions it may brown back, then regrow strongly in spring.

Sun or shade?
Full sun is best, but it can grow in part shade with slower, looser fill-in.
