Description

Robb’s Wood Spurge (Euphorbia amygdaloides var. robbiae) is a tough, evergreen groundcover that thrives where many plants struggle—especially dry shade. It forms dense clumps of glossy, deep green leaves and lights up the garden with chartreuse bracts and blooms in spring. Once established, it’s notably drought tolerant and typically ignored by deer and rabbits.

Faqs

Q: Is it invasive?
A: It is a vigorous spreader via underground runners, which is its great strength as a groundcover. In small, formal gardens, its spreading habit may need to be contained by edging or periodic removal of runners. In larger, naturalistic areas, it is a valuable colonizer.

Q: Can it take any sun?
A: It prefers partial to full shade. In cooler coastal climates, it can tolerate morning sun, but in hot inland areas, full sun will scorch the leaves and stress the plant.
