Description

Bridal Wreath Spirea is a classic, graceful deciduous shrub cherished for its breathtaking spring display. In mid to late spring, before the leaves fully emerge, its long, slender, arching branches become completely draped with clusters of small, double white flowers, creating the effect of a cascading floral fountain. Its simple green leaves turn attractive shades of orange, red, and purple in the fall. This elegant, old-fashioned shrub is perfect for softening fences, creating a stunning spring focal point, or adding to a cottage garden.

  • Spectacular Spring Cascade: Produces an unforgettable profusion of tiny, double white flowers that densely cover every arching branch in mid to late spring.

  • Graceful, Arching Form: Develops a naturally elegant, fountain-like shape with slender, willowy branches that can reach 6-8 feet in height and spread.

  • Excellent Fall Color: Foliage turns vibrant shades of orange, red, and purple in autumn, providing a second season of interest.

  • Low Maintenance & Tough: Once established, it is drought tolerant, adaptable to various soils, and requires minimal care. Deer resistant.

  • Timeless Landscape Specimen: Ideal as a standalone specimen, for planting along property lines, or at the back of a mixed border where its form can be appreciated.

Faqs

Q: When and how should it be pruned?
A: Prune immediately after flowering in late spring. This shrub flowers on old wood(previous season's growth). Pruning at this time allows it to grow new branches that will bear flowers the following spring. Avoid pruning in fall or winter, as you will remove the flower buds.

Q: How much sun does it need?
A: It performs best and flowers most abundantly in full sun but can tolerate light afternoon shade. In too much shade, it will become leggy and produce significantly fewer flowers.
