Description

Eddie’s White Wonder is a spectacular hybrid between the native and Kousa dogwoods, combining the best traits of both. It produces an abundance of exceptionally large, pure white bracts in spring, similar to the native type, but inherits much better disease resistance and adaptability from its Kousa parent. It is an excellent choice for a showy, white-flowering dogwood.

  • Produces a magnificent display of very large, overlapping, pure white bracts in spring that rival the native species in showiness.

  • As a hybrid (Cornus x ‘Eddie’s White Wonder’), it exhibits good resistance to anthracnose and powdery mildew, making it more reliable than pure native dogwoods.

  • Develops a strong, upright form and excellent red fall color.

  • A top-tier choice for gardeners who want the classic, large white “flower” display with significantly reduced disease concerns.

Faqs

Q: Is this a native tree?
A: It is a hybrid (Cornus florida x Cornus nuttallii), combining North American species. It is not a pure native but captures the native look with improved West Coast adaptability.

Q: How much shade does it need?
A: Like most dogwoods, it performs best with morning sun and afternoon shade, particularly in hotter inland areas, to protect its large bracts and prevent leaf scorch.
