Description

Giant Velvet Rose (Aeonium canariense) is a striking evergreen succulent admired for its oversized, velvety green rosettes and sculptural growth habit. Its broad, spoon-shaped leaves have a soft, fuzzy texture, with tips that may develop reddish tones in bright light. Over time, the plant forms attractive mounding colonies of overlapping rosettes. Mature rosettes produce showy clusters of yellow flowers from winter into spring. Drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, this Canary Islands native is ideal for succulent gardens, rock gardens, and decorative containers.

Faqs

Q: Can Giant Velvet Rose grow in full sun?
A: Yes, especially in mild coastal climates. In hot inland areas, provide afternoon shade to protect the leaves from sunburn.

Q: How often should Giant Velvet Rose be watered?
A: Water sparingly once established and allow the soil to dry between waterings. Reduce irrigation during hot summer dormancy and avoid waterlogged soil.

Q: Does Giant Velvet Rose die after flowering?
A: Individual rosettes are monocarpic, meaning they die after flowering. However, surrounding rosettes and offsets can continue growing.
