Q: What are its soil requirements?
A: It must have excellent drainage. It thrives in sandy, rocky, or decomposed granite soils and is ideal for slopes. Clay soils must be heavily amended or avoided. Good drainage is the single most important factor for success.

Q: Can it be pruned to shape?
A: It is best to let it develop its natural form with minimal pruning. If necessary, prune selectively in summer to remove dead wood or shape young plants. Avoid cutting into old, thick wood.
