Description

The Cast-Iron Plant earns its name as one of the toughest, most indestructible houseplants and shade garden perennials available. With its broad, arching, glossy green leaves that emerge directly from the soil on sturdy stems, it brings a touch of lush, tropical elegance to the darkest corners where few other plants will survive. Its legendary tolerance for neglect, low light, and variable conditions makes it the ultimate choice for low-maintenance, enduring greenery.

Legendary Toughness and Resilience: Thrives on neglect, tolerating low light, infrequent watering, temperature fluctuations, and poor air quality better than almost any other plant.
Glossy, Architectural Foliage: Produces upright, lance-shaped leaves of deep, glossy green that provide strong, structural form and year-round interest.
Perfect for Deep Shade: Excels in very low-light conditions indoors or in full to deep shade outdoors, making it invaluable for brightening dark spaces.
Incredibly Low-Maintenance: Requires minimal care; it grows slowly, seldom needs repotting, and has no serious pest or disease problems.
Versatile Indoor and Outdoor Plant: An ideal, foolproof houseplant for offices or homes, and a reliable evergreen ground cover or accent in shady, dry landscapes.

Faqs

Q: How often should I water it?
A: Water sparingly. Allow the top few inches of soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering is the primary way to harm this otherwise unkillable plant. In low light, it may need water only every 2-3 weeks.

Q: Why are the tips of the leaves turning brown?
A: Brown tips are usually caused by fluoride or salts in tap water, or by over-fertilizing. Use distilled, rainwater, or filtered water if possible, and fertilize very sparingly (once or twice a year at most).
