Description

Ivory Butterfly Bush is a compact, non-invasive pollinator magnet that delivers the classic butterfly-attracting power in a dwarf, garden-friendly size. Throughout the summer and into fall, it produces dense, conical clusters of delicate, ivory-white flowers that emit a light, sweet honey fragrance. Its tidy, mounded habit and soft, gray-green foliage make it an excellent choice for smaller gardens, patio containers, or the front of borders where its constant activity of visiting butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds can be enjoyed up close.

  • Compact, Non-Invasive Habit: Part of the sterile or low-fertility Buzz series, it is bred to be non-seeding and well-behaved, addressing the invasive potential of older butterfly bush varieties.

  • Prolific Ivory White Blooms: Bears long, arching spikes of pure ivory-white flowers continuously from early summer to first frost.

  • Pollinator Paradise: The fragrant flowers are exceptionally attractive to butterflies, bees, hummingbirds, and other beneficial insects, supporting local ecosystems.

  • Dwarf & Perfect for Small Spaces: Matures at only 3-4 feet tall and wide, making it ideal for container gardening, small urban gardens, or mixed perennial borders.

  • Easy-Care & Drought Tolerant: Thrives in full sun with minimal care. It is highly drought-tolerant once established and flowers on new growth, so hard pruning in late winter encourages fresh blooms.

Faqs

Q: Is it truly sterile and non-invasive?
A: Yes, cultivars in the Buzz™ series, including 'Buzz Ivory', produce very few, if any, viable seeds, making them a responsible and environmentally safe choice compared to traditional, freely seeding Buddleja davidii.

Q: How should I care for it in winter?
A: In Zone 9a, it may behave as a semi-evergreen or die back partially. In late winter or early spring, prune the entire plant back hard to about 12-18 inches from the ground. This severe pruning promotes vigorous new growth and maximizes flowering on the fresh stems.
