Description

Chansonette Camellia is a delightful, low-growing, spreading Sasanqua that forms a wide, dense mat. It is covered in small, fully double, rose-pink, peony-form flowers in mid to late fall. Its extremely prostrate habit (only 2-3 feet tall but spreading 6-8 feet) makes it unparalleled as a flowering groundcover, for draping over walls, or for use in large containers as a spiller. It's a fantastic solution for adding seasonal color to slopes or blanketing large, shady areas.

  • Low, Spreading Groundcover Habit: Grows very low and wide, making it an excellent flowering groundcover or spillover plant.

  • Abundant Double Pink Fall Blooms: Produces masses of small, fully double, rose-pink flowers in October and November.

  • Excellent for Erosion Control & Slopes: Its dense, mat-forming growth is perfect for stabilizing banks.

  • Sun Tolerant: Thrives in more sun than many groundcovers, though it appreciates afternoon shade in hot climates.

  • Versatile in Landscaping: Ideal for covering tree roots, filling understory areas, or planting in large raised beds.

Faqs

Q: How do I plant it as a groundcover?
A: Space plants about 4-5 feet apart to allow for their spread. They will quickly grow together to form a continuous carpet. Amend the soil well at planting time.

Q: Can it be walked on?
A: No, it is not a turf alternative. It is an ornamental woody groundcover and should not be subjected to foot traffic.
