Description

The Deodar Cedar is a majestic and fast-growing evergreen, commanding attention with its graceful, sweeping form and soft, silvery-green foliage. This stately conifer develops a broad, pyramidal canopy with tiered, horizontal branches whose tips nod elegantly downward. Valued for its rapid growth and elegant, weeping habit, it creates a dramatic focal point or a lush, tall screen for large landscapes, parks, and estates where its grand scale can be fully appreciated.

  • A fast-growing, large evergreen conifer with a broadly pyramidal form and gracefully pendulous (drooping) branch tips.

  • Foliage consists of soft, long, silvery-green to blue-green needles arranged in loose clusters.

  • Develops a stately, architectural silhouette with horizontal branching layers.

  • Prefers full sun and well-drained soil; moderately drought-tolerant once established.

  • Can reach 40-80 feet in height with a substantial spread, requiring ample space.

  • An excellent choice for a bold specimen tree, windbreak, or tall privacy screen in large settings.

Faqs

Q: How much space does it need?
A: It needs significant space, both vertically and horizontally. Plant it at least 20-30 feet from structures, power lines, and other large trees to accommodate its mature width of 20-40 feet and its sweeping branch habit.

Q: Is it messy?
A: It is a relatively clean conifer. It will drop some older needles (inner, brown ones) throughout the year, which is normal. The main "mess" is from the large, barrel-shaped cones when they fall.
