Description

The Horstmann Blue Atlas Cedar is the perfect solution for gardeners who crave the iconic silvery-blue color and rugged texture of the species but have limited space. This dwarf, compact selection forms a dense, irregularly shaped mound or broad pyramid. It retains the same stunning blue hue and artistic branching character but at a fraction of the size, making it ideal for foundation plantings, rock gardens, or small-scale landscapes.

  • A dwarf, compact cultivar of the Blue Atlas Cedar, maturing at 8-10 feet tall and wide.

  • Features the same intense silvery-blue foliage as the standard species.

  • Grows in a dense, mounding to broadly pyramidal form with an irregular, artistic habit.

  • Full sun is required for optimal color and density.

  • An excellent choice for adding year-round blue color and texture to smaller gardens, mixed borders, or rockeries.

  • Much more scale-appropriate for residential landscapes than the giant species.

Faqs

Q: How fast does it grow?
A: It is a slow-growing dwarf conifer, typically adding 3-6 inches per year. This makes it very low-maintenance and easy to keep within its allotted space.

Q: Can it be used in a container?
A: Yes, it is an excellent candidate for large container gardening for many years due to its slow growth and manageable size. Ensure the pot has excellent drainage and is large enough to accommodate its root system.
