Description

Satomi Kousa Dogwood is the classic and most popular pink-flowering selection of the Kousa species. It delivers a breathtaking display of soft pink to rose-red bracts in early summer, with the same excellent disease resistance and layered habit as the white varieties. Its compact size and stunning color make it a coveted focal point for partially shaded gardens.

Renowned for its profuse bloom of delicate, soft pink to deep rose-red bracts that create a stunning, cloud-like effect in early summer.
Shares all the excellent disease resistance, exfoliating bark, and fall color of the Kousa species.
Typically has a more compact, vase-shaped, and spreading growth habit than the species, making it an ideal specimen for smaller landscapes.
A multiple award-winner and a top choice for gardeners seeking a pink dogwood that will thrive with minimal problems.

Faqs

Q: Will the pink color fade in full sun?
A: The pink color is most vibrant in part shade. In full, hot afternoon sun, the bracts may fade to a lighter pink or whitish hue and the leaves may scorch. Providing afternoon shade is recommended, especially inland.

Q: Is it smaller than the regular Kousa?
A: Yes, Satomi typically has a more compact, spreading growth habit, maturing at 12-15 feet tall and wide, making it better suited for smaller residential gardens.
