Description

The Wilma Goldcrest is a dazzling, compact star that brings the vibrant lemon-gold color and citrus scent of the Monterey Cypress to small gardens and containers. This slow-growing, columnar dwarf shrub is covered in bright, chartreuse to golden yellow foliage that is brightest in cool weather. Its narrow, upright habit and sensational color make it a perfect potted accent, low hedge, or colorful vertical element for patios, entryways, and mixed borders.

  • A compact, columnar dwarf shrub with intensely bright, lemon-yellow foliage.

  • Foliage is strongly lemon-scented when brushed or crushed.

  • Slow-growing and easily managed, maturing around 6-10 feet tall and only 1-2 feet wide.

  • Color is most vivid in full sun and cool weather; may be more lime-green in heat or shade.

  • Excellent for containers, small-space hedging, or as a colorful vertical accent.

  • More suited to container culture and protected locations than its giant parent, especially in humid climates.

Faqs

Q: Can I grow it indoors?
A: It can be grown temporarily indoors in a very bright, cool location (like a sunroom), but it is not a true houseplant. It prefers to be outdoors and needs a winter chilling period. It is best as an outdoor patio plant that can be moved to a sheltered spot in extreme cold.

Q: How do I keep it golden?
A: Provide maximum sunlight. The color may fade to lime-green during the heat of summer but will re-intensify with cooler fall temperatures. Light shearing in spring can encourage fresh, brightly colored new growth.
