Description

Dymondia margaretae is a superb, slow-spreading evergreen ground cover prized for its unique, narrow, gray-green leaves with striking silvery-white, felted undersides that curl upward at the edges, creating a two-toned, carpet-like effect. This tough, low-growing South African native forms a dense, mat-forming carpet of tiny, deep green leaves that reveal their contrasting silvery-white underside, giving the plant a soft, frosted, silvery appearance. In summer, it produces small, inconspicuous, yellow, daisy-like flowers. Exceptionally drought, heat, and salt tolerant, and able to tolerate light foot traffic, it is an outstanding choice for planting between stepping stones, as a lawn alternative, in rock gardens, on slopes, and in coastal gardens.
