Q: How fast does it grow as a hedge?
A: Very fast. With adequate water, it can grow 2-3 feet per year and fill in a hedge quickly. Space plants 2-3 feet apart for a dense screen.

Q: Are the berries good for fresh eating?
A: They are edible but quite tart and astringent straight off the tree. Their true value is in cooking, where sugar balances their flavor to make outstanding preserves.

Q: Is it messy?
