Description

Felicia amelloides is a compact, evergreen sub-shrub prized for its profuse, true blue, daisy-like flowers with bright yellow centers and its long, continuous bloom season. Native to South Africa, this woody perennial forms a neat, rounded, bushy mound of small, oval, somewhat rough-textured, bright green leaves. From late spring through summer and often into fall, it produces an abundance of solitary, 1-inch-wide flower heads in a striking, clear, sky blue to lavender-blue with a vibrant golden-yellow central disc, creating a cheerful, long-lasting display that attracts butterflies, bees, and other pollinators . With excellent heat, drought, and coastal tolerance, it is an outstanding choice for sunny borders, rock gardens, coastal gardens, mass plantings, containers, and as a colorful, low-maintenance ground cover.

Q: Is it a perennial or an annual?
A: It is a tender evergreen perennial/shrub, reliably hardy in USDA zones 9-11. In colder zones (USDA 8 and below), it is grown as an annual or in a container to be overwintered indoors.
