Description

Bicolor Tree Mallow is a resilient and fast-growing evergreen shrub that brings a continuous splash of soft color to the summer garden. From late spring through fall, its arching branches are topped with a profusion of delicate, saucer-shaped flowers in a lovely pale lavender-pink, each adorned with a contrasting yellow eye. Its soft, gray-green, lobed foliage adds a muted, textural quality that complements its airy blooms. Exceptionally drought-tolerant and easy-care once established, it’s an ideal choice for adding a cottage-garden feel to sunny, dry borders, coastal gardens, or low-maintenance landscapes.

Faqs

Q: How do I keep it flowering and prevent it from becoming leggy?
A: Deadhead spent flowers regularly to promote continuous blooming. To maintain a compact, bushy shape and prevent a woody, sparse center, cut the entire plant back hard (by about one-half to two-thirds) in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Q: Is it short-lived?
A: Tree mallows are often treated as short-lived perennials or shrubs, typically performing best for 3-5 years. Their rapid growth and prolific flowering make them well worth it, and they often self-seed mildly to replace older plants.
