Description

Buddha‘s Hand Citron is the most striking and aromatic of all citrus, grown purely for its mesmerizing fragrance and unique appearance. With no pulp or juice, its zest-filled “fingers“ fill the air with a powerful, sweet-lemon scent, making it a living air freshener and a prized ingredient for perfumers, chefs, and spiritual traditions.

  • A non-edible, ornamental citrus valued for its incredible fragrance and sculptural form. The fruit splits into multiple yellow, finger-like sections.

  • The entire fruit is thick, fragrant zest with no pulp, juice, or seeds, releasing an intense, sweet, and complex lemon aroma.

  • A self-pollinating, small evergreen tree or large shrub with glossy leaves and fragrant flowers.

  • The peel is used for zesting, candying, infusing spirits, or simply as a long-lasting natural fragrance for rooms and closets.

  • An important symbol of happiness and longevity in Asian cultures, often used as a ceremonial offering.

  • Thrives in warm, sunny locations and can be grown in containers.

Flavor Profile:

  • Flavor: The zest has a strong, sweet, lemony flavor with floral notes and no bitterness. It is not eaten raw.

Faqs

  • Q: Can you eat Buddha‘s Hand?A: You do not eat it like a regular fruit. The white pith is not bitter, and the entire finger can be finely grated or peeled for its aromatic zest, which is used as a flavoring. It is also commonly candied.
  • Q: What do you do with it?A: Place it as a natural air freshener, use the zest in cooking and baking, infuse it in alcohol or vinegar, or candy the peel. It is also a unique and meaningful gift.
  • Q: Does it need special care?A: It requires the same basic care as other citrus (full sun, well-drained soil). It may need protection from strong winds which can damage its long “fingers.“
