Description

Jerusalem Sage is a handsome, drought-tolerant shrub that brings a touch of Mediterranean elegance to the garden. It forms a rounded mound of soft, woolly, sage-green leaves that are attractive year-round. In early summer, it produces tiered whorls of cheerful, bright yellow, hooded flowers on upright stems. Both the foliage and the unique flower structure add wonderful texture. Extremely heat and drought-tolerant once established, it is a superb low-maintenance choice for sunny borders, rock gardens, or xeriscapes.

  • Architectural Yellow Flower Whorls: Bears unique, tiered rings of hooded, butter-yellow flowers on vertical stalks.

  • Soft, Woolly Silver-Green Foliage: The fuzzy, aromatic leaves are highly ornamental and drought-adapted.

  • Exceptional Drought & Heat Tolerance: A true Mediterranean plant that thrives in poor, dry, rocky soils with full sun.

  • Evergreen in Mild Climates: Provides valuable structure and gray-green color in the winter garden.

  • Low Maintenance & Deer Resistant: Requires little to no supplemental water and is typically left alone by deer.

Faqs

Q: How should I prune it?A: Prune lightly after flowering to remove spent flower stalks and maintain a compact shape. Avoid cutting into old, woody stems. Every few years, you can rejuvenate an old plant by cutting it back by about one-third in early spring.
