Description

Rhodanthemum hosmariense is a compact, evergreen sub-shrub prized for its long flowering season and large, white, daisy-like flowers with bright yellow centers. This Moroccan native forms a dense, low, mounding clump of finely divided, silvery-gray-green, ferny leaves that provide a soft, textural backdrop. Blooming primarily from winter through spring, and often intermittently into summer, it produces an abundance of solitary, 1-2 inch wide flower heads with pure white, papery petals (ray florets) surrounding a prominent, golden-yellow disc, creating a cheerful, luminous display that attracts butterflies and other pollinators. Exceptionally drought and heat tolerant, it is an outstanding choice for rock gardens, sunny borders, Mediterranean gardens, containers, and as a colorful, low-maintenance ground cover.
