Description

The Bird of Paradise is the iconic tropical plant, famous for its stunning, sculptural flowers that vividly resemble the head of a colorful, exotic bird. Its foliage forms a dense clump of long-stemmed, stiff, banana-like leaves in a handsome blue-green hue. While it grows slower and stays more compact than its giant cousin, it is much more likely to bloom indoors when given enough light. This plant brings an unrivaled combination of dramatic foliage and breathtaking floral display to sunny rooms and warm-climate gardens.

  • Iconic Orange & Blue Bird-Like Flowers: Produces the classic, long-lasting blooms with vibrant orange sepals and a blue "tongue."

  • More Compact & Likely to Bloom Indoors: Grows to a manageable 4-6 feet and is known to flower reliably in bright indoor settings.

  • Architectural, Clumping Foliage: Features upright, paddle-shaped leaves that add strong, tropical texture even when not in bloom.

  • Requires Full Sun to Bloom: Needs several hours of direct sunlight daily (south or west-facing window) to initiate and produce flowers.

  • Slow-Growing & Low Maintenance: Drought-tolerant once established and requires minimal pruning.
