White Star Creeper is a charming and vigorous perennial ground cover that transforms into a breathtaking carpet of stars in late spring and summer. Its fine, bright green foliage forms a dense, low mat that becomes completely obscured by a profusion of delicate, five-petaled, pure white flowers, each with a subtle yellow-green center. This fast-spreading, adaptable plant is perfect for softening hardscapes, filling tricky spaces, and adding a touch of ethereal beauty to the garden.

Profuse Carpet of Starry White Blooms: Produces an incredible abundance of small, five-pointed, star-shaped white flowers that blanket the foliage from late spring through summer, creating a luminous effect.
Dense, Fine-Textured Evergreen Mat: Forms a tight, low-growing carpet of tiny, bright green leaves that provides attractive ground coverage even when not in bloom.
Excellent for Filling Crevices and Spreading: Thrives in the moist, narrow gaps between stepping stones, along rock walls, or as a lush filler in gravel gardens, where it weaves beautifully.
Prefers Cool, Moist Conditions: Performs best in partial shade with consistently moist, well-drained soil. It can tolerate full sun in cooler climates if kept adequately watered.
Versatile and Fast-Growing: Ideal for use as a flowering lawn substitute, in hanging baskets where it can cascade, or to quickly cover bare spots in shady, moist areas.

Knowing how we measure the size?

Knowing how we measure the size?

When browsing our plants, you may notice size terms such as Gallon, Multi, or Stand. These describe how a plant is grown, containerized, or structured at the time of sale — not just its height. Understanding these terms will help you choose the right plant for your space and expectations.

🌱 Gallon Size (Container Size)

Gallon refers to the size of the nursery container the plant is currently growing in (e.g. 1 Gallon, 5 Gallon, 15 Gallon).

  • A larger gallon size generally means:

    • A more established root system

    • A sturdier plant

    • Faster visual impact after planting

  • Example:

    • 5 Gallon: Ideal for residential gardens, easy to handle, good balance of value and maturity

    • 15 Gallon: More mature, provides quicker results in the landscape

Note: Gallon size does not guarantee a specific height, as growth varies by species.

🌳 Multi (Multi-Trunk / Multi-Branch Form)

Multi indicates the plant has multiple trunks or main stems growing from the base.

  • Commonly used for:

    • Ornamental trees

    • Feature plants

    • Japanese maples, olives, crepe myrtles, etc.

  • Why choose Multi:

    • Fuller, more sculptural appearance

    • Strong visual presence even at younger ages

    • Popular for design-focused landscapes

🌲 Stand (Single-Trunk / Standard Form)

Stand (short for Standard) refers to a single, dominant trunk with a raised or naturally formed canopy.

  • Commonly used for:

    • Shade trees

    • Street trees

    • Orchard and structural plantings

  • Why choose Stand:

    • Clean, classic tree form

    • Easier clearance for walkways and lawns

    • Preferred for long-term structure and uniformity

🌿 Choosing the Right Size

  • If you want instant impact → larger Gallon, Multi form

  • If you want long-term structure → Stand form

  • If you want flexibility and value → mid-size Gallon containers

If you’re unsure which size or form fits your project, our team is happy to help you select the best option based on your space, timeline, and design goals.

FAQs

Q: Is it invasive?
A: It is a vigorous, spreading ground cover but is generally not considered invasively aggressive in the way that plants like Vinca can be. It spreads by surface runners and can fill an area quickly, but is usually manageable and easy to pull up where it's not wanted. Its growth is often limited by hot, dry conditions.

Q: Can it handle foot traffic?
A: While it can tolerate very light, occasional foot traffic, it is not as tough as dedicated lawn grasses or thyme. It is best planted in areas meant for viewing, between stepping stones where feet will not directly crush the plants, or in hanging baskets.
